Bengaluru Water Quality Evidence & Methodology

Published water research is useful context, but it is not a test of your home. This page explains the source, date and geographic checks needed before using that research to discuss purifier choices. It is not an Ashva laboratory dataset or a current ranking of Bengaluru neighbourhoods by water quality.

What the published evidence can tell us

City-system research and groundwater sampling answer different questions. We keep their scope visible instead of combining them into an unsupported building-level number. The source cards below identify every external publication used on this page; they are not a complete bibliography of the separate Bengaluru area guide.

Dates: Publication page dated October 2023; the publisher notes data collected through January 2024.
Use: City water-system context: supply, demand, storage and seasonal flows.
Limit: Not a current tap-water test or a chemical-quality average for an individual neighbourhood.

Groundwater quality assessment of urban Bengaluru using multivariate statistical techniques

M. S. Gulgundi and Amba Shetty, Applied Water Science (2018)

Dates: Published in 2018; groundwater sampling took place in March and November 2014.
Use: A study of 67 sampling sites in the western half of Bengaluru, with pre- and post-monsoon observations.
Limit: Historical study-area evidence, not a current citywide survey or an Ashva customer dataset.

Checks for publishing water-quality evidence

Identify the original source

Keep the author or agency, publication title and direct source link alongside the claim. A publisher name alone is not enough to verify a numerical range.

Distinguish publication and sampling dates

State when water was sampled separately from when the article was published. An old observation must not be labelled as today's locality water quality.

Keep the original geographic scope

Do not turn a city, zone or study-area result into a measurement for every household in a named neighbourhood.

Describe the measurement

Before publishing new readings, record the sample point, source-water mix, test method, units and whether the result is a field reading or laboratory analysis.

Make uncertainty visible

A range is not a median, a representative average or a safety rating. Missing evidence must remain missing rather than being replaced by an estimated locality number.

Protect household privacy

Any future Ashva field-data publication needs a separate privacy and provenance review. Do not publish customer names, addresses, precise household coordinates or raw service records.

Questions to ask before choosing a purifier

What source currently supplies the building, and does that source change?
Where and when was the water sample taken, and what did the test actually measure?
Does the recommendation rely on a recent result for this building or on historical area context?
What installation, maintenance, replacement and cancellation terms apply to the proposed plan?

A locality label or a single reading is not a drinking-water safety certificate. This page does not diagnose contamination or prescribe a purifier technology. Ask for an appropriate assessment rather than treating a marketing guide as a test report.
